Essex & Eastern Counties Indoor Champs.

WGEL was well represented at the Eastern Counties and Essex Championships with some picking up medals.

For some it was the first time step up to the next age group. U15’s Brandon Shibchum achieved a new 60m PB of 7.87. Thomas Finch and Phoebe Fuhr had good 200m races and Phoebe came 3rd for Essex in HJ (1.40m). Scott Webster HJ 2nd with a PB of 1.68. Kyle Lundi made the final in the 800m.

U13’s  60m Jamie Pannick did well in his first race for Woodford along with Nicole Stimpson who competed in 60m, 200m and Shot. Rayne Allen was 1st overall in the 200m (27.94).  Kyesha Robinson was 2nd in the 800m and Lacey Fuhr who ran for the first time at this distance had a good race.

U17 Perry Rowan ran a PB of 2:05.16 in the 800m for second place. Senior Paul Scanlan made the final of the 60m and was 2nd in the 200m (22.54). Gavin Lewis was 3rd in the 1500m. Other notable performances were from Keke St. Hilaire (60m/200m) and Katie Skelding was 1st in the 60m.

In the Field events U17’s Lorenzo Okusaga Pole Vault PB (3.13); Ellie Sawa jumped well (LJ) and U20’s James Bongart 3rd in LJ. Hugh Williams was at his usual standard in the Shot (12.41) but was out of his comfort zone with a first time try at the TJ coming 3rd. Youcef Zafat was 1st at Shot (14.92). A great turnout and some very happy athletes.
